Our Customer Spotlight
For March 2010 |
|||||||||||||||
| From time to time we have spotlighted one of our special customers just to say thanks for their loyalty to our store.
During the winter Olympics, Alice noticed that this customer had come in to the store dressed in the Olympic colors. Alice could not resist taking this picture of Kristina Mirisha (Pictured at right) which is in our Customer Spotlight this month along with this new locomotive from Lionel. As it turns out Kristina is not really a Model Railroader herself, but she says that all of her children, the oldest of which is 19 years old, are all "Train Fanatics". |

| On this trip Kristina brought her nephew with her to the store. Thanks Kristina for being such a loyal customer and thanks for still bringing family members by the store even though your children have all grown up. We really appreciate your business.
By the way Kristina really did not wear those colors in honor of the Olympics, and I don't think Lionel made their locomotive that color for the Olympics either but Alice took the picture anyway. You can see another picture of Kristina below where we are introducing this months new products. |

News About Our Industry
As many of you know LGB filed for Bankruptcy about 18 months ago. Shortly thereafter The Marklin Train Company of Goppingen Germany bought the assets of LGB. To complicate matters even more Marklin Trains announced at the Nurnberg Toy Fair in Germany last year that it too was filing for Bankruptcy. That was the Bad news - Now for the Good news ! |
|||||||||||||||
| Although the bankruptcy has slowed both companies ability to deliver products, things are looking better for both companies..
First we have started to receive much needed Parts from LGB. (See photo at right). These parts include items such as motors, wheels, couplers, traction tires, etc. Even better news is that Märklin administrator Michael Pluta has been quoted recently in the German press as saying the company generated 7 million Euro ($10.2 million) in earnings from April-December 2009. We have also received a good supply of LGB starter sets once again along with track, and quite a few other items that we had not seen in a while. (See Photo Below) |
