Thanksgiving Point August 5,1999

After only four months of construction the Thanksgiving Point Garden Railroad was really starting to take shape. The styrofoam surrounding the mountain was sculpted and the track roadbed on the mountain was nearly complete. One of the bridges connecting the mountain was under construction and much of the roadbed in other areas was nearing completion.
Many of the rock and timber retaining walls were in place, and trees and shrubbery were starting to be planted all around the site.

An army of BYU students, members of the Utah Garden Railway Society and other volunteers were hard at work assembling the pressure treated 2x6 roadbed, building bridges and trestles, and bending and assembling the ten foot lengths of stainless steel flex track.

The circus area was one of the first areas to be ready to run trains. As it turns out the grand daughter of Thanksgiving Point 's co founder, Karen Ashton, was one of the first to have the opportunity to run trains at Thanksgiving Point . That train was a Bachmann Ten Wheeler pulling a Circus Train.
