Overall construction went quite well considering all the unusual wet weather they experienced in the spring of 1999. I have always pictured Utah as being quite dry and arid. It seems that snow shoes and hip boots almost become a necessary piece of equipment for construction of this huge Garden Railroad. They incorporated rocks into the site to help terrace some of the steeper areas, and adding topsoil and mulch to get ready for planting of trees and other plants. |

| The Garden Railroad at Thanksgiving Point was to become the largest railroad of its kind in the United States when it was completed. The site is quite impressive with miles of sidewalks that wind their way past forested areas as well as open expanses. There are huge waterfalls, rushing streams, giant fountains and much more. The railroad was built on a hillside that included many bridges and long trestles. It even had it's own mountain which you can see below being built from steel and styrofoam. The trains will run through the mountain as well as all around the outside. |
