| This track is especially suited to the harsh Florida sun, high humidity and salt air. The rails are very hard and resistant to wear caused by heavy use. The track is available in a variety of straight sections, and in as many as 10-"larger than normal" radiuses of sectional track. This will allow smooth operation of long locomotives (live steam, for example) and rolling stock like "heavyweight" cars from Aristocraft. Flex track is also available in 4, 5, and 10 foot lengths. Flex track includes both rails, all the sleepers, rail joiners, and everything necessary to assemble the track. There are many other innovative ideas incorporated into this track, which makes it one of the most exciting new products we have ever introduced. | ||||

| The rail is code 332, it is the same height as most popular brands, and the distance between the rails is 45mm, making it compatible with virtually all #1 gauge, or "G" scale trains. For instance, you can run locomotives and rolling stock from Marklin #1 gauge, and Maxi, on the same track with LGB, Lionel, Bachmann, Aristocraft and others. | ||||
| The track has been tested here at H&R Trains on our own outdoor Garden Railroad for over sixteen years, with very favorable results. Possibly the most significant finding from our tests is that it needs little if any cleaning. We spend more time running trains and less time maintaining the track.
Several of our customers and at least two of the large scale manufacturers have said that this is one of the best new products for garden railroading in over twenty years. We agree! There are so many innovative features built into this track that you really need to see them to appreciate the quality of this track. The rail joiner has received a world wide patent for its innovative design. It is made of Stainless Steel and incorporates a wedge or ramp that puts a positive pressure on the bottom of the rails which ensures a good electrical connection between the rail joints. This unique design allows the rail joiner to hold its original shape allowing for a tight fit even after repeated assembly and disassembly. It also incorporates a slot that allows for water and debris to be flushed out the bottom of the rail joiner. There are plastic clips that can be installed under the rails to hold the sections of track together. They were designed in such a way that they are out of sight when the track is put together. Power is fed to the track by a special power feed track section. Power enters the end of the tie or sleeper and is inserted into a drum where a screw connects the wire to a Stainless Steel strap which extends to the rail where it is welded to the Stainless Steel rail. This system allows for a very positive electrical connection and eliminates most of the problems associated other methods of hooking wires to the track. H&R Trains also offers Stainless Steel Split Jaw Rail Clamps as an optional method of joining the rails together or for allowing electrical connections at any desired location . The rail is Manufactured for H&R Trains in a factory which was founded over a centry ago . It is located in a valley in the rural European countryside where most of the employees have worked for many years, and some have worked there all their adult lives. The factory is situated along a small creek that was used for power to run the machinery in years past, and the water is still used today to help cool the machinery. Although some of the buildings date back over the centuries, the plant is very modern and has some of the latest technology available today. H&R Trains has visited the factory numerous times and we are extremely pleased with their dedication and commitment to the highest standards of quality. The Stainless Steel track is available exclusively through H&R Trains as part of our Heritage Railroad collection in the United States, Canada, Central and South America. We will be happy to ship the track almost anywhere within that area. |
