Module Challenge First Place
Richard Schmitt, from near Tampa, Florida, is a new-comer to model railroading. He writes, "Overnight, my interest in simply buying and running trains right out of the box turned to detailing, kit buiilding, kitbashing, scratchbuilding, and weathering." The result is a 1:20.3 scale industrial narrow gauge diorama five feet long by thirty inches wide. Richard handlaid the track, scratchbuilt the shack and low trestle piece by piece, made his own trees, and combined natural scenery with commercial ground covers. The locomotive is a Lehmann Porter; the dump cars are from Bachmann. Richard micro-detailed the scene down to the beards on the figures.
